Giving tree

Ronia loves giving things. Anything to everybody. If you met her in the park your would be very likely to get some grass straws, rocks, dirt and if you are lucky some toys.

Musical family

Zwi is currently working on running, pointing at different things (he can recognise words like: tree, dog, cat, horse, bird and moon). He is also trying to move to different songs: Isty Bitsy Spider (he plays with his fingers), Dinos in the Sawp (he shakes his head), Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (he puts his hands in the air), If You're Happy and You Know It (he claps his hands or splashes them).

Ronia is dancing to music, especially classical rock tunes. She also tries to move to songs: Deglumph Said a Little Green Frog (she puts her fists near her eyes), Dinos in the Sawp (she shakes her head), Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (she puts her hands in the air), Open Shut them (she opens and closes her hands and also rolls them around), If You're Happy and You Know It (she claps her hands or splashes them).

They also love walking around playing on their tambourines. Yes we are a very musical family.

Dresses made by my friend

I love handmade/homemade things so when my friend said she is thinking about opening a business and wanted some test runners of course I said yes. Here are her creations for Ronia. I will add her website as soon as she has one!

Adventures

I just love taking Ronia and Zwi for adventures. I try to go to playgroups at least twice a week. And to a playground everyday. I try to go do a different playground everyday since we have so many of them in Engadine. It really is a perfect place to raise children.

Walking

Playgroud

It's incredible to see how quickly they develop and learn new things.

Zwi is walking, can climb the playground equipment, go down the slight all by himself (on his tummy), wave hello and bye bye to people on the street, help me to get him dressed and undressed, splashes his hands in the water. He is also trying to dance that is so so cute. He loves playing with sand and water and climbing the pram when he wants to go for a walk.

Ronia can stack rings, climb the playground equipment, go down the slight all by herself (on her tummy), wave, splash water, read board books to herself (including turning the pages and 'reading' aloud). She loves emptying and filling containers.

Busy week

This week has been very very busy. On Monday we went to a playgroup where Zwi was basically walking (as in taking more than 3-4 steps). On Tuesday we went to Miranda Fair, on Wednesday we went to the beach, on Thursday we went to another playgroup and on Friday we met up with my friends in Eden Gardens in North Ryde.

Here are some pics from our trip to Austinmer:

Birthday Party

A week ago Zwi and Ronia turned one year. We held a small celebratory party at our local park. The weather was perfect and all in all it was just a fantastic day.

Fast approach

Ronia's first birthday is approaching fast. I can't believe she is going to turn one on Sunday. So many new things are being learned... hesitant first steps, stacking rings, climbing, going down the stairs, trying to put on hats... I am absolutely loving this age and our time together.

Another great find

We went to Sutherland Baby and Kids market this weekend and found this fabulous wooden train set for a grand total of $10. It will make a great Christmas gift I think.

Sydney Fastival

I love decorating our house with preloved or handmade treasures. So when I found these posters yesterday in our little Engadine arcade I just had to have them.

Please stop telling me to seize the day.

Here is an extract from http://www.mamamia.com.au that I can totally relate to. And it's OK.

Anyway. Clearly, Carpe Diem doesn’t work for me. I can’t even carpe fifteen minutes in a row, so a whole diem is out of the question.

Here’s what does work for me:

There are two different types of time. Chronos time is what we live in. It’s regular time, it’s one minute at a time, it’s staring down the clock till bedtime time, it’s ten excruciating minutes in the Target line time, it’s four screaming minutes in time out time, it’s two hours till daddy gets home time. Chronos is the hard, slow passing time we parents often live in.

Then there’s Kairos time. Kairos is God’s time. It’s time outside of time. It’s metaphysical time. Kairos is those magical moments in which time stands still. I have a few of those moments each day, and I cherish them.

Birthday Party Preparations: Food

Food.. yummmy food. Well since I won't have time to cook and bake for hours on end I need simple ideas. I think I will go with these two:

Update... this is how it all turned out:
